The aim of the resistance of Hazrat Mahdi (as) is "war of guidance", not a struggle for killing or bloodshed. Iblis is to lead as many people as possible to hell with him and to seduce them by holding a promise. However, the Prophet (as) will aim to lead many people as far as possible, in a clean and irresponsible manner towards Allah, by guiding them to the right.
As a matter of fact, the first war will be in the wrong words. Hazrat Mahdi (as) 'ın battle, Ali (as) and Hazrat Hussein (as) war. The Prophet Ali (pbuh) was not the one who started the war in the Battle of Cemel, because he sent a genocide handler to his enemies to notify them. But when they can not answer, he kills the youth and tears the Qur'an, sending the answers of Hz Ali to the blood.
The Prophet Hussein (pbuh) had not initiated the war during the Holy See, and had talked to the people before him and advised them. But they answered with sword and spear. Hence, Hazrat Ali (pbuh) and Hazrat Hussein (pbuh) started their resistance by talking. And they proved their leadership, with evidence.
